How to convert Word to PDF

  1. Click the upload area or drag in a .docx file (up to 25 MB).
  2. Click Convert to PDF.
  3. Download the PDF when it is ready.

That is it. There is no account, no email and no watermark.

What converts well, and what does not

The converter reads the text and structure of your document (headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images) and lays it out as a PDF. Simple documents such as letters, reports, CVs and forms usually come out looking very close to the original.

Complex layouts are harder. Text boxes, columns, headers and footers, tracked changes, comments and unusual fonts may shift or be simplified, because the conversion happens in your browser rather than in Microsoft Word itself. Explicit page breaks from Word are not preserved, and long tables or large images may continue across PDF pages. If the exact layout matters, for example for a print-ready brochure, it is safer to export from Word or another desktop editor using File → Save As → PDF.

Only .docx files

This tool accepts .docx files (Word 2007 and later). If you have an older .doc file, open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs, save it as .docx, then convert it here.

File size

Files up to 25 MB are supported. Most of a Word file's size usually comes from images, so if your file is larger, try compressing the pictures in Word (Picture Format → Compress Pictures) and converting again.

Your privacy

Word to PDF runs entirely in your browser. Your document is not uploaded to our server: it is read and converted on your own device, and it is gone when you close the page. That makes this tool a reasonable choice for documents you would rather not send anywhere, but as with any online tool, use your own judgement for highly sensitive files.

Tips for a cleaner PDF

  • Use common fonts (such as Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman) if you can; unusual fonts are the most common reason a PDF looks different.
  • Accept or reject tracked changes and delete comments before converting.
  • Check the PDF page by page before you send it.
